    *Like any gemstone the higher the quality the more rare and expensive it is. Turquoise is plentiful but the highest quality is very limited. By stabilizing the turquoise you are not only making the stone durable, you are also sealing out foreign substances like, makeup, sweat, & grease, that the stone could absorb and discolor it. Composite turquoise is actual pieces of the natural material bonded together with other natural stones and metals, like pyrite and copper to create a "mosaic" appearance.
